All of us girls before we started the race
Brian and Cooper hanging out
Heading out on my run. Only 3 miles to go.
The race is all done. Of course we all have smiles.
So if you read my last post you read that I have become an exercise freak. All of my hard work paid off this last week as a group of girlfriends and I completed our first triathlon in Chelan. It was such a blast and I will definitely do it again. In fact I think we are planning on one in September. My ambition to do one started a couple years ago and last year my brother actually had me convinced to do one with him in Oregon. But then I got pregnant so I couldn't do it. So after having Cooper I was determined to do a triathlon (sprint distance) this summer. Therefore I started training and found a couple of friends that wanted to do the triathlon together. I have to say thank you to my husband for allowing me the time to go exercise and train for the event and for also watching Cooper and supporting me on the race day. Also thanks to Brian's parents for watching Ethan and Cody overnight and "camping" with them.
The race consisted of a 1/2 mile swim, 13 mile bike and a 3 mile run. I started off with the swim and felt like I drank the whole lake before I was even halfway done. About halfway through my swim I was actually able to swim because we had finally spread out so I wasn't swimming on top of people anymore. Then it was onto the bike. I got on and took off. The bike ride was along Lake Chelan and it was very beautiful. It was a lot of fun and made the ride go really fast. Then onto the run. Now I know that most of you are thinking "how do you run after biking 13 miles?" It really doesn't hurt that bad. In fact my legs are already warmed up enough so they didn't hurt that bad. It was the vomit sitting in my throat that bothered me. Oh well it stayed there and I didn't have to deal with it. So I completed the race in 1 hr 38 min. My goal was 2 hours so I am feeling pretty good about the race. Okay so I will quit talking about myself now but I just have to tell you if you have any desire to do something like that and you are questioning it, just go ahead and do it because you will feel so great when you are done.

That's awesome Alain! I've never done a triathalong before. In fact, I haven't done any endurance type activity since high school. Pretty sad.
